Ponterwyd Country Fete 2009

This year's Fete will be held at Bont Farm on Saturday 15 August 2009. As well as the normal fete activities this year we will have a falconry display, Lazer Clay Pigeon shooting, a large Vintage Display and the inaugural Welsh Pea Shooting Championships.

The Country Fete Committee would like to thank Messrs Gomer and Martin James for allowing us to once again use the facilities at Bont Farm and for Mr Gomer James's generous donation of £100 to the Fete funds.

RECIPE FOR CLASS 23 BANANA CAKE (MEN ONLY)

4oz butter or margarine

6 oz sugar

8oz self raising flour

2 eggs

2 large or 3 medium, very ripe bananas

 

Heat the oven to gas mark 4 (180 C)

Grease a 2lb loaf tin

Mash the bananas with a sturdy fork.

In a different bowl, cream the butter and sugar together and mix in the eggs.

Mix together the contents of the two bowls.

Mix in the flour.

Scrape into the loaf tin and bake for 40 minutes then lower the temperature to gas mark 2; 150 C and cook for a further 30 minutes.

Let it cool (turn out onto a rack)

 

 INAUGURAL WELSH PEA SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIPS RULES

 

 

 

1. Any person regardless of age can enter the open Championship.

There is a separate competition for children of Primary School age.

2. Contestants must supply their own Peashooter (these will also be available to purchase on the day)

3. The peashooter can be made of any material but not exceed 12 inches in length and can

include sighted devices.

4. Peas must be fired by blowing with the mouth.

5. The distance of the target will be 12 feet.. In the children’s competition it will be 8 feet.

6. The entry fee is £1.50. Entries are made on the field on the day. Children under 11 years 50p.

7. Each contestant will shoot 5 peas at a target and must use the peas provided.

8. The first round will commence at 12.30. All entrants must shoot their peas by 3 pm when the

first round will close.

9. At 3 pm the highest 16 scores in each competition will qualify for the next round.

10. The competitions will now be run on a knock-out basis. Contestant’s names will be drawn

to decide their opponents and order of play.
